The OMIP-Forcing based on ERA-40

This dataset is based on the years 1958 to 2001 of the 24h forecast cycle of ERA-40 (Simmons and Gibson, 2000). Its main features are similar to those of the OMIP-Forcing based on ERA-15. For all forcing parameters the mean annual cycle is available in netCDF. The budgets of the heat and the fresh water fluxes were closed by applying a closure procedure which is similar to the closure procedure for the OMIP-Forcing based on ERA-15.
